TL;DR - Use molti to manage your development process.  Use projects to track stories, workflows to define your process and reports to easily report on project status. Track notes, docs, files, statuses in one place so that information is stored in context of what's going on.

You've had a look around, but you're not quite sure how 'you' would use molti.  Molti is completely flexible and fully customizable.  The possibilities are really endless, so lets give you a few ideas to get started.

Story Tracking and Executive Reporting

GOAL: Track development stories.  Keep basic information attached to projects so a quick executive report can show all project statuses.

Mike's team is constantly making improvements to their web app.  He wants to be able to track who's working on what and wants to provide his non-technical manager with a simple report to provide updates.  They've used different software in the past, but it can be overly complicated but at the same time, not offer what his team wants.

Projects

Mike wants to track individual stories, so for Mike it made sense to make each story a project.

Workflows & Statues

Mike created 1 workflow with 5 statuses:

  • Backlog

  • In Development

  • Quality Assurance

  • Ready to Test

  • Released

The team likes to see all their projects and the statuses in one glance.  That's why they like 'Board View' on the Project's page.  Kanban boards help them stay organized and on track.

Project Summaries

Sometimes, Mike wants some additional details on project but he doesn't want to look through the notes, files, and forms that are attached.  To solve this, he created "Project Summaries" so that he can see the information he wants quickly whenever he opens a project.  Plus it took less than a min to setup, can't beat that!

Reports

Mike sometimes needs to provide summary reports to the executives to keep them in the know. Who wants to spend time tracking down that data? Not Mike!

Instead, he built a report to query his database in molti.  Now he can run the report on demand ...

... and give an update in seconds!
